Every color in nature can be reproduced in fiber, and my lifelong love of color finds release in my work as a fiber artist. For over thirty years I have worked to reflect the universe of color that often goes unseen by the unaware and untrained eye. In weaving, knitting and basketmaking, I invent each piece thread by thread, the texture of those fibers punctuating the structure of the patterns I use. This alchemy of color, pattern and texture creating form seduces me everyday; to refrain from weaving and knitting is more difficult than giving in to the urge. One might say that I am truly addicted and that fiber and color are my drugs of choice!
Taught at the knee of my grandmother, I have been knitting since age five; and weaving became my antidote to the rigidity of a career in the sciences. My abilities with color continue to expand through my work in fiber and as a pastel artist. My work in fiber has been exhibited at various museum shops and galleries and has been featured in Cape Cod Life magazine.
