These wall sculptures are shaped like a ribbon. We first glue up the different layers of wood in a vacuum press. This process has many steps, in order to get the thickness needed to carve. The design is drawn on the piece and then a bulk of the wood is cut out using a band saw. Then a chainsaw and grinders is used to create the ribbon shape. These pieces can be made in many different sizes and designs. The woods can vary from one solid wood or a contrasting look, such as the plywood and wenge pictured.
